The car starts, when I put it in gear and step on the gas it stalls. Start it, stalls. When I get going finally, it will stall if I stop at a light. Also, as the car warms up I smell a tremendous amount of gas fumes in the car. What do I need to check or replace to make my car run smoothly again? I really appreciate any help you could give me! Thank you!

The first thing you need to do is have the vehicle scanned for codes.

Here is a link on how you can do it yourself:

If you do not have a scanner at the fuel rail there will be a fuel pressure regulator. It will have a vacuum hose attached. Remove the hose and check for fuel. If fuel is present, replace the regulator. Very common for them to fail. Attached image below so you know what it looks like. Let us know what you find.

Also, mass air flow sensors fail on these vehicle also. That should post a code if you can get it scanned.
