Hi, my name is Christian and I have the car listed above that is the STS model.

Just recently my Check Engine Light went on and I have been short on money to get it checked out. About a week after I seen the check engine light, my car stalled driving on the freeway cruising at about seventy mph. The car would not turn over for a good forty minutes and when it did, the rough idling I noticed. I tried to put the car into gear to see the car idle drop completely and stall. I had to leave my car behind and get a tow truck the next day. Any help would be great. Thanks!

**Update, when car turns over and is in park, giving the Cadillac some gas will make it bog out slightly and after a few seconds go high into the rpm. Now turning the car over and holding the brake and gas down and shifting it into gear works, but one minute into driving the car and it stalls or just loses all rpm and shuts off. Trying to start it afterwards takes a few minutes to turn the engine back over.

Any and all help, suggestions, tips is greatly appreciated! Thanks again in advance.

Hey CHRISTIAN,

It sounds like it could be one of two things, either the fuel pump is going out or the catalytic converter is plugged up causing the engine to stall, here are two guides that should help you figure the problem out.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-test-a-catalytic-converter

and

Please run some tests and get back to us so we can continue helping you.

Best, Ken

Scan for codes and check fuel pressure with a gauge auto parts does for free for scanning and rent's gauge. check battery for condition including load test you can get that done for free as well. then try a security system reset see links.

Thanks, I'll have to check into this. I've heard that it could be 02 sensors too. I have to get a obd reader and see what kind of codes come back up on my end
