Try "Spray White Lube". I use this grease from the Chrysler dealer's parts department because I'm very familiar with it. It sprays on rather runny with a liquid that soaks into tight joints and spaces. The grease flows in with the juice, then the liquid evaporates leaving the grease behind. One of its main uses was for door and hood hinges. This is a lithium-based grease.
You can find similar products at other dealerships and all hardware stores and auto parts stores, but I don't know if the other products flow the same way. I have used the old Carquest-branded grease, and it seems to be very similar to Chrysler's.
Besides the hinge pins, there will be either a spring-loaded roller or a sliding "door check" that holds the door open halfway. Those are common sources of crunching and creaking noises. Regular greases usually won't make it in there like Spray White Lube does. WD-40 really isn't meant for this type of problem. It doesn't stick around like grease does. WD-40 is good for identifying what is causing a squeak, but then other products will do a better job of lubricating those parts.
