Recently, my car has been experiencing sluggish acceleration when i am stopped at red light or accelerate from a dead stop. after accelerating twenty miles an hour, the car accelerates fine. The problem seems to occur while i am stopped and then accelerate.

Is the check engine light on? Have the ECM scanned for codes even if the check engine is not on. Start there. if no codes are present you need to have a fuel pressure/volume test done. You can have good fuel pressure to start with, then lose fuel 'volume' at first. Scan the computer first though to see if any codes exist. You can get an OBD II scanner pretty much any where these days. you just plug it in under the dash at the existing ODBII port and turn the key to the "on" position and follow the instructions.
