The dashboard door indicator light does not show when the passenger sliding door is open; ie. It doesn't light up for that door, but does for all other doors. We recently had to recharge our battery after one of the kids accidentally left the car in AUX mode and then replaced the battery a few weeks later. We reset the ABS sensor to get the doors working properly, but the indicator still isn't working. I'm not sure if there is a connection to the battery being discharged/disconnected or if it's a fuse or, maybe, a sensor, but I was hoping someone here could shed light on the topic. All I've been able to find in my internet searches are that the light stays on, not off. Thanks for your help!

So the problem happened right after the battery change? It sounds like it popped a fuse. lets check fuse # 13, 7 and 21 in the under dash fuse panel. Here is a guide to help you and the fuse location with the sliding door wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works:

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find.

First thing we can do is check for codes. If you have codes then we will know if there is a circuit issue. However, I doubt there is because of the way this operates. The latch contains sensors that tells the sliding door control module what position it is in. If this sensor in the latch has failed then the door module will not know it is open. If the control module doesn't know it is open then it will not send a message to the cluster to show the door open.

Without codes, this means it could either be the sensor, control module, or wiring.

If you cannot check for codes, then most parts stores will pull them free of charge. Let me know and we can go from there. Thanks.

Thank you both for your responses. I will check all of those things in the next few days and report back with my findings. Thanks again!

So I checked the fuses (assuming you meant the driver side fuse box) and they are all intact. And there were no codes when I had them read.

Did this problem occur right after (same time) when the battery was installed? I want to see if it could be an electrical problem or mechanical.

I thought it started when the battery was discharged when left in AUX (which happened before changing the battery), but my husband thinks it was before then. So, unfortunately, I don't have a solid answer for you. Sorry.

Okay. So that means we need to hook up a scan tool and see what the body controller and sliding door module are seeing when the door is open. If it doesn't see it then the sensor is most likely the issue. Unfortunately there is no easy way to test this other than checking what the module is seeing.

To me it sounds like the switch inside the rear latch is bad. here is how you would replace it the diagrams below. You can confirm the latch switch failure by using the wiring diagrams above and this guide.

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.
