Hello everyone,
I recently encountered an issue with my car. After sitting about four to five months in the driveway my car's signal lights and hazards aren't working at all. Not even clicking. It has always worked when it was running. Now I got the car up and running, but I still can't figure out what the issue is. It's important because the car has to pass a brake and light inspection. I'll try to make sure I explain anything that could be a variable to this problem. I have installed some HID lights that my brother bought me and that had no issue with the signals because I remember flicking them to make sure and also installing the original bulbs back to check and see if that was the issue. Another variable is I left the vehicle in the driveway without the front bumper during a hard rain period in California. I've checked if all harnesses and connections are connected. I've added a picture of a miscellaneous connection that I don't know where it hooks up too. There's another two that plug into the coolant reservoir, but this one is a mystery.

Thanks in advance and excuse my inexperience lol.

Hello,

This could be a problem with your flasher control module located behind the instrument cluster in your vehicle. This control module is in charge of your vehicle's turn signals and flashers. I have included an Exterior Lighting Wiring Diagram, troubleshooting flowchart for testing the module, and directions on how to get to the module. I have also included a link below for you to go to if you are unfamiliar with how to use a multimeter, because testing the module will require you to use one.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-use-a-voltmeter

Please go through these guides and get back to us with what you are able to find out.

Thanks,
Alex

Hello thanks for the feedback, but I read that the signal lights and hazards are powered by the body control module.

Hello again,

I'm so sorry, I forgot to send along the wiring diagram for your vehicle's exterior lighting with my last reply. Please go through it and get back to us with what you can figure out.

Thanks,

I'm sorry for not updating for awhile. I was occupied with school. Anyway, I have replaced the flasher control module and when I removed the old one. I noticed some rattling on the module itself indicating some broken internal parts. I replaced with a new one and it did the trick. The hazards will start to blink uncontrollably for awhile after new installation but will settle down. The only issue I have now is fast blinking by the blinkers. I believe that can be a blown bulb? Also the rear lights do not turn on, but the signals and hazards operate. Thank you

Yes, it sounds like one of the bulbs are out or the wrong bulbs are installed. Can you look at the bulbs and let us know please?

The bulbs looked fine, and operated yesterday; but today they were out. I checked them and replaced them and it did the trick. I feel that constantly removing the battery and jump starts is what broke the flasher control module; and I'm having issues with the anti theft system alarm. It keeps turning on whenever it wants, especially after reconnecting the negative terminal, also feel it's responsible for blowing the front turn signal bulbs. I will make another thread on this. But thank you all for all for the help. The hazards and turn signals are back and working.

Hello, I'm Danny.

Just going to add my two cents. Be real sure the flashers/blinkers are working correct before going to the brake and lamp inspector. Although the lights may be working there is actually a requirement. The flashers and turn signals have a fps/fpm (Flashes per second-Flashes per minute) requirement and if blinking too slow or too fast (in your case) you get failed. I went through this a few months ago at the Ambulance Company I work for. Failed a unit for flashing too fast resulting in not getting Orange County CA approval for that unit. I've since fixed the problem but just giving you a heads up. Thanks again for using 2CarPros.

10 amp fuse on the left turn signal blew, I put in a 25 amp spare temporarily just to get in to the store. Wrong decision. It melted the plastic housing of the bulb holder. Now the both left front and rear turn lights are not working. Left harard are also not working. No issue on right front and rear signals. I tried the working right socket bulb on the left, still not working. Pls. Help.
Pls. See attached melted bulb socket holder

It sounds like the short was in the socket. Have you replaced it?

Thanks for your reply. But I tried the working socket from the other side and it is still the same. I removed the head light housing and did not see any physical/burned damage in there.
Another question is why would be the rear left turn light not work. It was working without problem until I plugged in the wrong fuse. I replaced the rear bulb and it is still the same.

As far as the rear light, they work in a series. If one goes out, either the other won't work or it will flash really fast. If the fuse is good, check to see if there is any power to the wiring at the sockets. Also, you may have burned up the flasher or damaged the switch. Make sure all fuses are good including the ones under the hood.

Thanks again for your time

The BCM is a body control module. Yes, it could have damaged it.

Just to let you guys know, I took the car to my mechanic and he did a thorough inspection of the electrical - it was the flasher that has been damaged. Thanks for your help and suggestions.
