Airbag light on, driver's and passenger side?

Hello, I have the vehicle listed above in near perfect shape, had it for 11 years with almost no issues. This is the 2nd Generation 6s. Had all the recalls done in 2017 or so. The air bag light came on in 2017 and was Diagnose at the Mazda Stealership and that code was B1127 for the passenger front seat side airbag. Then in Jan 2023, I took it back again and it was B1126 for driver seat side airbag.

Now during this time frame the light would come on and I was told the connection under the seat might be loose or needed to be reconnected and once I did that the light would go off. Now it might stay off for a year or more or when the weather changed. It started in 2022 doing coming on more so that is why I took it back to get scanned again in Jan 2023 and found out it was the driver's side. After the scan the light remained off until August.

Here is why I am contacting you guys. I can't get a straight answer from neither of the Mazda Places nor actually talk to the tech who did this. One shop told me it was a common connection issue and the other is saying it needs to be repaired. My car is worth 6 grand and the 2 repairs will probably be about 2 grand and that is not worth it. Yes, I have complained a lot and got a few small answers.

So, my three questions are:

1. From reading this what do you think this is on with this 2nd Generation Mazda 6 cars air bags?

2. If the light went off for 9 months does that mean it works now and then when flashing it does not?

3. I presume a scanner will clear the codes for some time without the flashing light always on so what kind of scanner that is all around good to get without breaking the bank and that I can use in the future on other vehicles I may get is good to buy? I just want to eliminate the flashing air bag light as I don't see myself repairing those air bags.

Your link in the YouTube video is dead as that is where I found you at. I can send over the invoices on the next reply and I don't mind donating as well after were done. Thanks.

Yes, when the airbag light flashes the system is disabled. To me it sounds like the airbag module needs to be replaced but first I would check the electrical connector and look for corrosion which could cause the issue as well. Here is the location so you can check it out, and also disconnect the battery before you begin. I am not sure which link you are talking about; do you mean the one on the airbag code video? Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

Ken, here is the link I am talking about, it is the airbag light fix, that video the Amazon link is dead.

Okay Ken, you kind of answered the topic but not quite the 3 questions I had above. 1st it is not that air bag module, I sent you the codes that the dealership got from the scan and it never came back to that, plus the module would not be a high dollar part, that is not it. The flashing light is in the instrument cluster. It is not corrosion or anything under the seat, the car is literally perfect and no clutter in it.

My issue is I don't want a flashing light on my instrument cluster all the time now so I am thinking the only way to fix this is clearing it with a scanner which would help in short term as it will come back on at some point. Can you please go back to question 3 and let me know an answer to it? and answer all of it as that would be most helpful.

if you know where to get airbag parts from new that is much cheaper than the dealership, please let me know other than that I don't see this light going away other than clearing it every time it comes on.

Randall

Sorry for the delay. Yes, you need to clear the codes to see if they come back, here is a link to a scanner that will do so:

https://amzn.to/49hvYzu

If after you clear the codes, the light comes back on read the codes to see which one it is and get back to me. Let me know how it goes.

Ken, I keep telling you what the codes will say, I don't need to spend money on a scanner to find out, you seem to keep forgetting that. I just want the warning light to go off for a while, that is it. I need a scanner that is good for just about any and all car issues and some only do engines and some do like air bags and stuff so I need to for all and to be updated as well. Is this one you sent me good or are there others?

Yes, you need a scanner to clear the codes, because it has both drivers side and passengers side codes which is remote that both sides are bad at the same time it makes me think it is the control module that is bad but to be sure I wanted to clear and run the codes again.

Then why did the dealership on 2 different occasions come up in their scanner as the seat air bags. The scan only shows the latest issue, it won't show both, that is according to Mazda so one was 2017 and then when the other bag was bad in 2023 it showed only that. I don't care about all that. All I want is to clear the codes so they will go away. So, on Amazon I found these: Any you like, I saw yours as well.

Again, I need something that can be update by computer and that will scan engine, transmission, air bag, ECU, really anything related to cars. A all-in-one scanner plus the scanner to clear all codes on Anything. Thanks.

Ken, my mechanic, recommend a Autel or Launch. He said the LAUNCH Millennium 70. I need one with the most reset and diagnosis functions and as long as I am under the $200.00 I am good with that. I also want something for later down the road if I need it for myself or others. What do you like and any brands you like or would stay away from? Thanks.

Yes, my mechanic said this, how old is this model and are there any newer ones? Now will this do just about anything I need it for as in all kinds of resets and diags?

Yes, it does a wide range of functions which should work good for what you need. I believe this is the newest model.

Ken, what are the part numbers, and can you show me a pic/diagram of my car's front 2 side round vents? The round part that holds them in place dry rotted off and I will need some new ones, I have a feeling I will have to get a new vent. It was a 2009 Mazda 6 with 1 round vent on each side and only in the front, 2 total. Make sure the pics show the part numbers or give me the numbers. Thanks.
