Good morning,

Does it shut off in reverse as well?

If you 2 foot it, will it stay running?

Is the check engine light on?

Yes, as long as the car is in park it runs but soon and i put it in rev or drive it will shut off and the car shakes. i would hit the gas constantly yes it will stay running but i put it in gear off it goes. when i crank it there's no ticking noise, but when i crank it it starts, i just have to keep pressing the gas for it to stay on if i stop too long it shuts off.

Okay, this sounds like the torque converter in the transmission is locked up causing it to stall in gear.

This is when the clutches seize inside the converter and it is locked up all the time instead of when it is commanded.

It will require removal of the transmission and replacing at least the torque converter.

Do you mean compression? If the cylinder compression is low, it will cause a lack of power nut not to the point of shutting off the engine when you put in gear.

The engine should continue to run but will misfire due to the one cylinder not contributing to providing power.

I think you have 2 issues here for the car. Did he tell you the reason why the cylinder has low compression?
