Good call, most compatible automatic transmission will likely be one specifically designed for the Escape's platform, the Ford 6F35 transmission. This transmission is commonly found in:

2013-2016 Ford Fusion (with the 1.6L EcoBoost engine)
2013-2015 Ford C-Max (paired with certain engine configurations)
2013-2019 Ford Escape (models with compatible engines)
2012-2015 Ford Focus (in specific configurations)

So I have to look for one that was paired with the 1.6? Should any Escape transmission from 2013 to 2019 that is from a 1.6 work? Will it need to be reprogrammed? The 6F35's first came out in 2009 if I recall, but the second generation ones were bolted to 3L V6's mostly. I would expect those to be incompatible with mine.
