Hi, my car will shake randomly. It does not matter what speed and its random. I went almost ninety miles yesterday with no shake. But on the way back it shook. Sometimes it will shake, sometimes it will not. More time than not it does though. It gets to shaking so bad I have to pull over. I already got one of my tires balance because a weight was off, but it was not it. What could cause it to shake at random?

Have the front end checked it can be a wheel bearing, or something in front end causing it like a ball joint especially after hitting a bump.

Wouldn't a ball joint or something like it do it all the time?

Not really they mostly do it after hitting a bump and it depends on how worn the joint is and whether or not it is greaseable. Or an idler arm.

Sway bar can do it yes so can a misfire in the engine. Usually a damper leaks oil is a way to check. But if this is a stock car and no big tires on it then I doubt its that.

Hello,

Raise the front end in the air, then grasp each wheel at move it back and forth to check for anything loose. This will show you the part that is worn out, Probably an idler arm.

Here is a guide that might help as well.

We checked all the tires again and again. We finally found that my front tire has a broken belt and is in pretty bad shape. We thought it was something major because it didn't do it all the time. But, whenever I took it to walmart they balanced it, so now it makes sense that the reason it didnt shake on the way down there was because it took a while for the tire to get unbalanced all over again, creating the problem again. Thank you for all of your help.

Sometime the tire is broken inside and it only shows up with the weight of the car on it.

Glad you could get it fixed, that kind of problem can be tough. Please use 2CarPros anytime we are here to help
