Friends car. When driving, 50-60mph and accelerating, it vibrates strongly. Tires are good. Wheels are all balanced. Only does it when accelerating in that speed range. There was a cylinder 3 misfire code which went away when I swapped out the plug. The plugs had been changed a few years ago.

Also I checked the transmission fluid and it is perfectly red and full, no clutch material at the bottom

Hi,

Does the check engine light ever come on when this happens? Also, have you checked the front drive axles to make sure you don't have a faulty CV joint or a ripped CV boot?

Since it is only at that speed and you are sure the tires are balanced and it doesn't have a bent rim, I would inspect the front axles. Take a look through this link:

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions. Additionally, let me know if the check engine light is on or if there are any additional codes that were retrieved.

Take care,

Joe

I don't know for sure about a bent rim, but they don't look terrible at least. I'd imagine they'd be beat up looking if they were bent. These are steelies with original hub caps still on there. I hadn't thought about the axle shaft. Especially since he was saying he couldn't feel it nearly as much sitting in the passenger seat. I'm going to jack up the front driver wheel, pull it off, and give it a go. Thanks for the tip.

You are very welcome. It's a theory at this point, but hopefully, it will help.

Regardless, let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,
