My truck shutters stalls and eventually shuts off, but usually it will crank if I give time, but it will always crank. The next morning although it seems even if I have not crank it all day it will not crank in the heat of the day. A friend tapped the gas tank with hammer and it briefly crank, but then it shut down.

Check battery for condition including load test most places do for free. Then check starter if you have someone to hit body of starter with hammer while trying to crank and it does the starter is bad.

Bad typing he tapped the gas tank and said he believe it's the fuel pump. I've heard of tapping starter. Leaning towards buying fuel pump and assembly tomorrow but didn't want to buy something I didn't need.
