Car starts and runs fine when started cold. When the car is hot it won't start. However, if I turn the ignition key on but don't try to crank it for a few seconds, when I do crank it the motor starts hard (flooded?) then settles down and runs fine.

Would love to do the donated question bit but i'll be lucky to afford any repairs.

Appreciate all your help in advance

here is a diagram of where the coolant temp sensor is i would replace that sounds like its reading to cold when the engine is hot and causing the engine to flood.make sure u change it when the engine is cold u will loose coolant.also check the connector going to it if its corroded u will have to replace the connector as well they usually turn green when the corrod.there only like 10-12 for the sensor make sure u get a brass tipped one the plastic tipped ones crack and leak coolant into the connectors corroding them.let me know what happens and we will go from there.

Tried this and it worked a charm. The girlfriend is happy now and so now I am allowed to be happy.

Amazing a $9 part can cause such havoc.

At that price I can afford a donation.

Thanks
