I turn on the key to start my 1999 Saturn SL1 and nothing happens. I put in a new battery. Right after I put the battery in, it turned over real slow for about 5 seconds, then nothing. Could it be the starter? If so, where is the starter located? Thanks!

Yes it could be the starter it's under the intake manifold. Do you have a test light or multimeter if you do you can test to see if the starter is bad or you have some other problem.

Ok, thanks! Oh, by the way, it was the intake manifold gasket that caused the high idle. Besides the no start, the check engine lght came back on last nite, after having been off for a month.

First of all thank you so much for your donation. Glad to hear you got your high idle taken care of. If you find out what code's you have we can go from there. If you check and see if you have battery voltage to the S terminal to the starter when the key is in the start position. It's the little purple wire going to the starter solenoid. Also make sure you have battery voltage to the big red battery cable to the starter. If you do then you have a bad starter. Also make sure the engine turn's over freely by hand.
