You have a rich condition that is allowing raw fuel to enter the crankcase. My guess is your gas mileage is not as good as it can be and may have a longer time to get the engine to operating temperature or possible runnability problem. These engines are very common for a coolant temp sensor problem and have seen a fair share of thermostats as well.
