Ok.
i have a 1995 saturn SL2 4 cylinder sedan with 136 thousand miles on it. Manual trans.
about a month ago someone broke into the car and tried to steel it. Resulting in the driver side door no longer able to be unlocked with a key and the ignition has been messed with - ie. The cover is no longer on and it looks as though someone tried to start it with a screwdriver or something because the exposed metal is bent in places. The car seemed to be running fine at first, occasional it would stall at a light and occasionally it would sputter but I attributed that to poor gas and/possible faulty fuel injection as this would occasionally happen even before the breakin.

recently it has been stalling more often and a couple of days ago it would not start(just a click when you turned the key.) This happened once three days ago and then twice yesterday but after leaving the car for ten minutes or so it started up again with no problem.

I figured it was the battery(which was almost 10 years old) so replaced that today with a new one from a Kragen store. Also got an oil change and had all the fluids flushed and replaced, trans, radiator, power steering etc.
The car was running great for the rest of the day as I ran a few errands, but then when I stopped at the store down the block from me, it would not start again, just got the 'click' sound when I tried to turn it over. Hoping that maybe I just got a bad battery, I had someone try to jump start me but it did not work. Someone passing bye stopped when he heard the clicking ad thought it sounded like a faulty starter. My worst fear, since replacing that would probably cost close to the value of the car itself.
Then - while turning the key so that we could locate the starter engine by the clicking sound, it just turned over.
Does this sound like anything that can easily be explained.
I just dropped over 4 hundred into the car between the tune up, new battery and new tire so if it sounds like something I could fix on my own please let me know.

Thanks so much for your time.

Have a great day.

T. Ry

I did not mention that this is a Twin Cam engine, incase that makes a difference.

I thank the clown who gave me a reply to this but your diagram is for 91-94 saturns, mine is a 95 and I could not locate the sensor. Appreciate the advice though, thanks.

Try wiggling the connector on the crank sensor, or replacing the sensor, There seems to be a problem with Saturn and crank sensors...
