RPMs not getting up to 1,500 unless I go 60 plus MPH?

Hey guys/gals. I have the truck listed above LD. I have aftermarket taillights, light bar, a Borla Atak exhaust, an aftermarket subwoofer system, and rims are tires. My RPMs will not get up to 1,500, unless I am going 60-usually 65 mph. I know rims and tires can throw that off. But I've had a board full of weird things going on with the vehicle. My transmission sometimes does not shift at all what soever unless I let my foot off the gas and force it. Sometimes I will be driving 30 mp and RPMs stuck at 2,000. Sometimes I get up to 55 and they're only running at around 1,400 or around there. Sometimes my battery shows about a 11/12 out of 14 charge. Sometimes when I let my truck sit for a couple hours. My transmission fluid stayed above a hundred degrees. Sometimes also when I start the truck, instead of the truck recharging like it's supposed to. The battery ends up starting and staying at 10/11 range and it makes my truck run badly. These are just a few of the issues but can anyone give me some guidance? Thanks

I also have a few videos on my YouTube you can check out. There was some weird noise coming from the back. End and have no idea what it is. Any and all help is appreciated.

Hi,

Newer vehicles are very sensitive to voltage issues. What I suggest is to check the alternator to see if it is doing its job.

All you need for this is a voltmeter or multimeter. Follow the directions in this link and let me know the results:

Let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe

Hey Joe, what would be causing my truck to have to be driving 60-65 MPH in order for my RPMs to reach 1,500? There is something definitely off and it needs to be figured out. My transmission also does not shift like it is supposed to, sometimes it does not shift at all without me letting my foot off the gas.

Ethan,

In most vehicles, 60 mph is achieved around 1800 RPM. Based on the gearing in the drive axles (Differential) that can change. Do you know the gear ratio of the differential?

As for the transmission shift, that sounds like a line pressure issue or low/dirty fluid. Have you checked the voltage at the battery, and have you tried scanning for diagnostic trouble codes?

Keep in mind, if you feel there is a transmission concern, the vehicle's powertrain warranty is 5 years or 60K miles, so you are well within the limits.

Let me know.

Joe
