Right rear door want open fron inside

When I try to open the right rear door on my 2006 saturn Ion 2 it want open from the inside but the door will open from the out side and the door is not lock, the doors on this car locks automatic when I put the gear lever in reverse I believe somebody didn't know how to unlock the door to get out the car, do I need to take the door panel of to fix it.

You will have to probably have to remove the panel. The possibilities are that the inner latch actuator rod has come un-done and will not open the door and the other is that the door lock actuator is somehow tied into the door handle and needs replacement. It will have both screws and plastic plugs. You may have to use a small pick to remove screw covers and you may have to remove things such and door handle bezels. Otherwise the plastic plugs just pop out. Just gently pull on the panel and they will come out. They are genrally re-usable.

Just to add to this if the outside handle works but the inside handle doesn't work have you checked to make. Sure the child lock isn't on?

Look at the edge of the door where the door latch is in the door. You will see a diagram on the door showing you the position with the child lock on and off. Compare it to the other rear door.

The child lock on the left rear door is not showing the same position as the right rear door so how do I correct the left door problem?

Use your key for your car put it in and turn it to the same position. Let me know how it works.
