Researching transmission issues

Truck was doing good then it made a loud noise and would not go in reverse. The previous owner stated that the truck did this once before and something not sure what needed to be plugged back in. Does this sound familiar and if so where would this be located or if you know the name of such plug?

Good morning.

Application of the transmission into gear is mechanical. If it is not engaging into reverse, it is an internal issue inside the transmission.

Does the truck move forward and shift normally?
