How do I replace the rear wiper? Not just the rubber blade.
I was told I had to remove the rear hatch panel.

Hi and welcome to 2CarPros.

If you are referring to the rear wiper motor, that is correct. The rear trim needs removed. First, here are the directions for replacing the wiper motor. Pictures 1-2 correlate with this process.

Rear Window
1. Remove the cap (A), mounting nut (B) and rear window wiper arm (C)
2. Open the tailgate and remove the tailgate lower trim panel.

3. Disconnect the 4P connector (A) from the rear window wiper motor (B).
4. Remove the mounting bolts and the wiper motor.
5. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Here are the directions for removal of the liftgate trim. The remaining pictures correlate with these directions.

4. Disconnect the tailgate light connector (G).

4. Install the panel in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Check the clip(s) for damage or stress-whitened, and replace them with new one(s).
- Make sure the connector is plugged in properly.
- Push the clips and hooks into place securely.

That is what is required for motor replacement. If, however, you only need to replace the wiper arm, simply remove the plastic trim piece from where the arm mounts, remove the nut holding it on, and it will come off. You may need a wiper arm puller to separate the arm from the motor due to corrosion.

Let me know if this is what you needed or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe

Welcome back:

You are welcome, and I'm glad it's just the arm. Removing the interior trim is a pain. Just remove the plastic trim over the retaining nut, remove the nut, and you may need a puller to actually get it off. Most parts stores will lend or rent the small puller to remove it. Corrosion sometimes really makes them tight.

If you need anything, let me know.

Take care,
Joe
