Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Renault Laguna 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual
my car stopped on the motorway. The camshaft does not turn with the engine. Is this the cambelt, and is it expensive to repair?

Hi there,
yes I feel you have broken a timing belt, now we have not got this car on our data base, but I have done a bit of a web search and it looks like you have suffered some valve damage, this swill require the head to be removed and all valves inspected for damage. Get your local mechanic who should have more information to verify this first before the head is removed. Or failing that you can have a belt fitted and do a compression test this will tell you if there is any damage or not.
