A/C has stopped blowing cold (fan works fine) accompanied by hissing sound coming from behind the glovebox. If the A/C (compressor) is turned off while the fan is running, the hissing ceases. I think this means a refrigerant leak. I think there is refrigerant piping behind the glovebox near the cabin air filter, as seen in the video linked below. My question is what is the best way to access this area fully? I want to take a look myself before committing to a dye test. Do I have to take the whole dash apart to access the refrigerant system? What parts can I look for/replace in this area?

Thanks!

If you had a leak, you would not have cold air, do you have cold air? It sounds like the expansion valve might be making noise. Can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so I can hear the noise? That way I can tell for sure what's going on. You can upload it here with your response. We need to hear the noise, so we know which direction to go to help you fix the car. It takes time to upload so please be patient.

A/C does not blow cold no matter the settings. In this video I toggled the AC on and off twice.

Wow, that is a good one, have not heard that before but I would have to say the expansion valve is stuck wide open which will make this kind of sounds. Can I ask if any AC work has been done lately? Also, have you tried added refrigerant? Here is the part that has failed, please go over this video and I have included the location and the instructions on how to change the expansion valve out. Thanks for the video, it helped.
