Thanks for using 2CarPros. When it's acting up, check the fuel pressure. You can get a fuel pressure test gauge from the local auto parts shop's loan-a-tool program for free. That pump pressure should be at least 34-45 psi when the engine is idling, and 5 or 6 psi higher with the key turned on, engine off.

Check the pressure when it's running well and starting the way it's supposed to, and then again when it dies and won't restart. Record pressure for when the key is on and engine off, and when it's idling. I'll bet there's a big difference. If so, we'll go through how to change the fuel pump.
