Based on your description, it sounds like an ignition problem. Basically, something shorts out, not allowing spark to get to the spark plugs. What you need to do is check to see if spark or fuel is missing to the engine so you can focus on one specific component. Take a look through this link. What I suggest is that when it will not start, you check specifically for spark to the plugs. Here is a link that describes how that is done:

Also, check to see if there are any trouble codes stored in the computer. Here is a quick video that shows how that is done. However, if there is a code in the system, it will remain for some time. Therefore, after this happens and then decides to start, take it to a parts store. Most will scan the computer for free.
