One night, like normal, I drove home just fine, no signs of anything going wrong. The next morning, I get in it, it starts right up, and I let it sit to warm up. About 10 or 15 minutes. I got in to go, I put it in gear, took my foot off the brake and it kind of went forward about a foot maybe and then stopped for a second, then 2 more inches and that’s when I heard the sound. It was like a bang but not loud at all followed by the weirdest crunching sound I’ve ever heard it make. The truck was still kind of moving forward at this same time, 2 or 3 inches, then it dies. I put it in park, started it back up and soon as I dropped it down in to drive instantly shut off. I did this a few times and realized something was seriously wrong. I had no time to try and self-diagnose it because my ignition interlock had 6 hours on the timer then I’d be locked out and I had to get to work. So, I parked it. I can’t get anyone to give me any kind of maybe it’s this or that because I couldn’t start the truck after that. It sat for 9 months before I could get it out to have the ignition interlock reset. They have rules and one of them is you can’t have it towed in and then towed out. So, me having no other choice because I have to have this truck told the guy oh yeah, no problem. He finished his thing and said I could go. I jumped in knowing there’s no way this thing is going anywhere and started it up. Like a champ it fires right away, I love this truck. I put it down in to drive but I had my foot on the gas and brake so if it tried to shut off I could give it gas to keep it from dying and it worked. Then it proceeded to drive over 150 feet out to the road where I could park it and call the tow truck back. It made no crunching sound or nothing. Only thing was it tried to shut off when I put it in gear, and I noticed my shift cable had a lot of play in it like it was real loose somewhere. I just replaced it before all this happened 9 months ago. In fact, I had to start it in neutral a couple times when I got it back to my house because it wouldn’t go into park. The shifter is all the way up until it stops and it only reads Reverse. I have read so many posts on here about similar things happening to others just not quite the same as mine to make me think it’s possibly the same thing that’s wrong with there’s. I really need my truck as I use it for work and these past 9 months have been a nightmare without it. I really hope someone knows what it is I need to do to fix this or at least a checklist of things I could go down to narrow the possibilities. Please help me. Thank you all in advance, I really appreciate it.
I’m throwing this in here because I don’t know how this works and I don’t want to lose this post.
If I’m not responding, it’s because I don’t know how to get back to the post. I’ll do my best though. Thanks again.

You should get a notification in your email that I have responded, this sounds like the torque converter has come apart which will not allow the engine to become disconnected from the transmission. Also, it could be the transmission has come apart and won't allow the shifter to be put into park. I could tell what's going on much better if you upload a short video of the problems, I need to see the engine shut off in gear so I can tell if it is the engine or the transmission that is causing it. As far as park goes, I would disconnect the shifter cable and see if you could put the transmission in park manually. Does it seem like when you put it in gear the engine stops like a manual transmission when you let the clutch out too fast?
