Power steering issue

I've driven through a puddle during the heavy downpours we been having an 10 minutes later the power steering light came on an the steering went really heavy. I managed to drive it home and left it for an hour. my son in law as drove it around an it's not done it while he was driving it, but being a woman I'm afraid to drive it encase it happens again.  any idea what it could be?  it's a Corsa d 08 Plate Auto.

Hello,

This can happen when the belt gets wet as you drive through heavy rain/water. I would replace the serpentine belt with a new unit. this guide will walk you through the steps:
