I replaced the wiring harness and lock actuator. Intermittingly hear clicking sound when open fob button is depressed. It stops when I open the door handle.

Can you get a recording of this noise because I suspect this could be a faulty actuator if this was not doing this prior to the replacement?

Basically, what can happen is the actuator contacts inside of it are faulty and the clicking you are hearing is the actuator moving but not staying engaged in that position, so it clicks rapidly.

We may have to remove the panel and get this to operate in order to be sure this is what it is.

We should be able to hear or feel what is clicking so let me know if you have questions on this.

However, this could also be a connection issue as well if you changed the harness, so we need to check these as well.

So, let's see if you can get a video of this noise and we will be able to determine what this may be because most things have distinctive noises.

Thanks

Unfortunately, it was not. If you click on the Add Image or Video and then upload it, it may take a few minutes as it depends on your internet speed but if you close the page before it loads, then it most likely will not post.

If it still doesn't then that may be due to the size of the file. If it still doesn't post, then we will try something else.

Thanks

I replaced wiring harness and lock actuator. The door was inoperable until I replaced both parts.

Okay. I just want to be very clear on this because I don't want to recommend the wrong thing.

The door did not open at all with the auto open until you replaced the lock actuator and the harness. In other words, what was the portion the door that was not working prior to this replacement?

This sounds like the door lock actuator cycling and that would make sense because the door handle manually trips the lock, and the fob requires the actuator to unlock it when you use it to open the auto door.

It is very possible that the actuator that you have is faulty right out of the box because I have seen that a few times over the years. Clearly if this wasn't doing this prior then we most likely have an issue with the replacement parts.

What I would do is reinstall the old actuator before anything else and just see if this stops. You may have other issues with the actuator but if this clicking stops then it is pretty safe to know if it with the actuator.

Thank you for your help. I ordered 2 actuators. Both sliding door actuators were bad, so I am going to just try the other one. What are chances of getting 2 out of box bad? I'll let you know what happens. Thanks again, Kim Hoyt

Unfortunately, that is not that uncommon. Depending on where you got the part from, a lot of people replace their faulty actuators and then put the faulty part in the box and return it to get their money back and claim they never used the part. The parts store never checks them and sells them again.

That leaves you getting someone else's faulty part. Most all part stores have policies that send the part back to the supplier when they are faulty but if they are told it was never installed then they put it back on the shelf.

Let us know what you find with this. Thanks

The actuator was bad, but now I have a problem with the linkage rod. Something has come loose or broken I can't find any diagrams or anything to show how it goes back on. Hope you can help me again. Thanks, KIm

Sure can. I am assuming this is the linkage attached to the latch that is shown in the image.

If not, then can you get a picture of what you are dealing with? Thanks
