Hi,
It sounds like the battery went dead. This could be the result of a failed battery or alternator. First, make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight. Next, recharge the battery. If you don't have a charger, most parts stores will do it for you free of charge.

Once the battery is recharged and you can start the vehicle, follow the directions in this link to test the alternator.

If the alternator is working as it should, take the vehicle to a parts store and have them load test the battery or perform this test. If it fails, replace the battery.

Also, and this just popped into my mind, make sure the belt is tight to the alternator.
I attached a pic below showing the alternator location. If you plan to remove it, make sure the battery is disconnected before working on it.
