I have recently had transmission work done on this car, and two new front tires. Just recently, I have heard a popping noise in the middle of the car when accelerating or stopping. It is usually 2 or 3 pops together. What could it be?

When the transmission was removed, did they take it through the bottom of the vehicle's frame? In other words, was the engine / trans carriage removed?

"Recently had transmission work done"; "recently, I have heard a popping noise". You need to be more specific if we're to surmise if these could be related. How far apart did these two things occur? Has anything been checked so far?

I know they had to completely redo the transmission, but that is all I know.
