Last Mnday night there was a significant rain in Abilene. Our daughter came upon some standing water and noticed that it got pretty deep. Being sensible, she decided to go through the shallow portion to the paraking lot of some businesses and go around the water. As she started doing this "a big old truck came screaming through from the other direction." Obviously the truck kicked up a spray and wake. The spray covered her car, momentarily eliminating her visability. And she rightlfully hit her breaks so she would not hit something. However, the combination of the spray and wake caused her car to die and pushed her off the road into deeper water. When the car stopped floating sideways it settled into water deep enough to put 3 to 4 inches of water inside her car. Some guys helped her push it out of the water but the car would not start.

Obviously new carpet inside the car will be required (she said the seats were not wet but I want them checked out as well) and engine/transmission will need to be checked real well because there may be water in there. What else should be on the list of things I need to make sure they consider/check?

Look for any water in the air box and remove the plugs before trying to turn the engien over in case there is water in there. Removing and cleaning out the fuel tank might not be a bad idea if the car was in enough water to float. Honestly water damage can cause all sorts of gremlins down th eline from the slightest bit of water damage/corrosion on connectors and the such
