Interior problem
2003 Pontiac Sunfire 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive 135000 miles

The drivers side window goes down fine but then will only go up about a quarter of the way, if I drive around or leave it alone for a while it will go up alittle more and I can continue to do this until it goes all the way up. If I only put the window down a couple inches it goes back up fine.

I bought a new motor and was going to try to replace it myself - how ever it has the pop rivit type things holding it in. I had no idea how to get them out and the motor I got at the parts store looked totally different.

I am not real mechanical but in todays economy can't afford to take it to the dealer to have it fixed. Can you give me some ideas of what to do or tell me what you think it is so if I can't fix it I don't get hosed by the repair people, because I am just a "dumb female".

Thank you in advance for any and all help!

First, you're not a "dumb female". You can do this. The rivits just need to be drilled out. When you replace the motor, replace it with nuts and bolts. As far as the motor, are you sure it is bad? What I need you to do is check to see if it is getting power when it doesn't work. If it is getting power, then chances are the motor is bad. If there isn't any power to it or little power, then chances are the switch is bad.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Joe

Check window regulator, we have similar trouble with my wife's vehicle. Car pro has an instructional video on how to. Just don't forget to tape window if you replace the window regulator
