My key will not start my sunfire. We tore apart the consol and tried to start it with a screwdriver, but the theft-deterent system will not allow it to get fuel. I am a poor woman who would like her car to start. Can anyone help me?

It sounds like the car is cranking. If the car is cranking, then the theft deterrant is more than likely ok. If it won't crank over, check the clutch switch on the clutch linkage. The neutral start switch is also a likely culprit if it wont crank over. If it cranks, you need to make sure if you have igntion spark and fuel pressure.

The car will crank, but thats it. I know that the theft-deterent is ok, thats the problem. I need to somehow disable the theft system.

Back when we installed remote starter systems, there was a bypass module that we installed to bypass the theft system so the car would start without the chip key in the ignition. Without a wiring diagram, that might be the easy way to bypass the system. You might look into that method. Otherwise, you will probably need to take to a shop for repairs. Good luck.
