Is it overheating at highway speeds or more in slow traffic situations?
What is the history on this?

You still didn't tell me anything about the history so I have to assume you have overheated it numerous times by now. This mean the likelihood of it have a blown head gasket is real high. All it takes is getting too hot once. You don't have to find anything in the oil for the combustion to be getting into the cooling system. I suggest you have a chemical test done to it.

IT NEVER GOT OVERLY HOT. WHEN THE GADGE WAS GOING UP I WOULD TURN THE HEATER ON AND WOULD BRING IT BACK DOWN TO WHERE I COULD GET HOME. AS LONG AS THE HEAT WAS ON IT WOULD BRING THE TEMP DOWN. AND WHAT IS A CHEMICAL TEST AND WHERE DO YOU GET ONE OF THOSE AT?

Any shop that has an exhaust analyzer can sniff the coolant for any indication of hydrocarbons.
