Hi, you recently answered one of my questions about my car and recommended me checking my ignition switch or key.I just went to my car and it started right up perfectly yet again after not starting yesterday. When I called an auto parts store to ask about the ignition switch or key they told me there were 2 parts one is the electronic and the other is the key switch, and if I replace the switch then my security system would need to be reprogrammed. They stated to be reprogrammed I would need to contact a pontiac dealer. Which would you recommend replacing or both and why? Also, is it necessary to reprogram the security system and if so is it possible to do it on my own with out having the added expence of going to a pontiac dealer to have it done? Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated, I know absolutely nothing about cars and really need to have mine running again as quickly as possible with out having to worry if I am going to be stuck yet again.

If security light is on or flashing
tune key on for about 10 mins and or security light go out and or stop flashing
than turn off
wait a sec and than start
if u install new switch
need to do that 3 time to program the new switch and key
