1998 Pontiac Sunfire replacing metal fuel line with rubber?

1998 Pontiac Sunfire 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 250k miles

i have to replace the gas tank on my car, it is apart with the fuel pump out. While undertaking this job I broke several fuel lines due to rust (and the stupid fittings). My question is, can this small piece of line be replaced with rubber hose (neoprene) from the fuel pump to the fuel filter? I have read a lot of reports saying yes and no. Please help.

My opinion is no. Between the newer oxygenated fuels eating away at rubber and the high pressure of the fuel system I wouldnt go that route.

I see, if I couldnt use rubber I would have to replace all the fuel line with metal. Rubber fuel injection hose is available, it handles high pressure. New metal line is a big job.
