I changed my fuel filter & now it will not start. it is put on there the same way it was. It sounds like my car is out of gas. It will start with starter fluid but then will cut off when you hit the gas pedal. The fuel pump is making a working noise but it does not seem to be pumping out fuel. I did google & on a website, it stated VERY IMPORTANT. step 1. have the car running & have someone pull out the fuel pump fuse. THIS WAS NOT DONE. It stated something about pressure will build up. How do I fix this?

You dont need to pull fuses, it isnt good to run them out of gas like that.If it ran before, be sure the filter arrow is pointing in the direction of fuel flow to the engine, if the filter has any kind of valving in it, it wont allow pressure to the engine.Sometimes you need to cycle th ekey on-off a few times to push the air out of the system befoe the car will start
