My fuel sensor is broken. On the dashboard display iit never shows if the tank is empty and always comes up as full. I also have a digital display on the car ceiling with temperature, mileage, fuel used etc. And it doesn't show up correct there either. The car itself is in a very good condition, just had oil, airfilter and transmission fluid replaced and the mechanic told me that the engine looks great.
How much would it cost to have the fuel sensor replaced in a garage and would this be something I could replace/repair myself? I checked online and a new fuel sensor costs around $40. BTW I'm not a skilled mechanic.
Thank you.

Hi sylvia well the fuel sender is in the fuel tank and the tank has to be removed to replace it. So this would only be a job for an experienced technician. As it is dangerous and it has to be done with care. So ball park depending on labor rates in your area, prob 2 hrs labor.

Hope this helps billymac
