Engine Performance problem
1990 Pontiac Lemans 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

ok the car overheat and then dies when you stop. But you can start the car again right away you just cant put it in any gear until it cools down. The water pump is new. What else could it be?

I'm thinking cooling fans are they on? Do they come on when AC is on?

Yes the cooling fan is on. I'm not sure about the a/c havent ran it cause the car over heats
