When I try and remote start my car the horn will start honking

is it a continous honk or just a few times? the horn should honk to acknowledge it received the remove starter's signal. otherwise the key fob is most likely at fault.

Its like it sets off the alarm system, it just keeps honking until you hit the panic button.

key FOB probably needs replaced or at the very least reprogrammed

Did you ever figure out what it was? I have the exact problem. It started after I had a locksmith unlock my car when I had them locked inside. I don't know if it is related. But my dad works at a GM dealership and they can't figure it out either. If you have a resolution, I would love to hear it! Thanks!
