Won't go into park

My shifter wont go into park. It has a dead stop at reverse, it wont budge at all to go into park. So I had to leave the shifter in Neutral with the E brake on when I stopped the car. Luckily it does start in neutral but I am not driving it until I get it fixed or find the problem. The shifter is located on the floor, not the column, and the other gears do work. It does shift through the others, just not into park.

Check cable at trans connection first for any binding or broken brackets. If OK, then you will have to remove console and inspect the interlock system it sounds like it is broken here are diagrams to help you see how to fix it. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what you find.

The trans just quit with no warning. No slippage before. No shavings in bottom of pan. When I shift out of park the motor idel slightly changes almost like its gonna take gear but don't. According to the filter I bought its a 92 trans. Do you know why?

Either a failed front pump or a bad torque converter
