HOW DO YOU REPLACE A WATER PUMP. I RECENTLY HAVE BE HAVING A LOW COOLANT SIGNAL IN MY CAR. I NOTICED THAT THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM NEAR BY BELTS. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS IS A JOB THAT COULD BE TAKEN CARE OF AT HOME? OR SHOULD IT BE TAKEN TO A MECHANIC?

Removal
Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain cooling system. Remove air cleaner (if necessary). Loosen water pump pulley bolts. Remove serpentine drive belt. Remove water pump pulley bolts and pulley. Note position of locator tab on top of water pump for installation reference. Remove bolts, water pump and gasket.
Installation
Apply thread sealant to water pump bolts. Install water pump and NEW gasket. Ensure locator tab on top of water pump housing is positioned vertically. Tighten bolts to specification.
