My car needs almost a complete overhaul but I want to start with the struts becuase they have been gone for almost a year. I dont know what to buy for struts and if I need mounts or anything else like that. I also here a clunking sound when I turn either way sharply, what could that be? But mainly the struts, I dont know exactly what I need, I would imagine anything to do with struts will have to be replaced. Im lost and on a budget PLEASE HELP!

Struts come as the strut itself, or a quickstrut, which includes spring. Quickstruts are easier to replace since they are bolt in.

Replacing the strut involves removing strut, using a spring compressor to compress and remove spring, put old spring on new strut, put in car.
THE SPRING IS UNDER SIGNIFICANT PRESSURE, if you don't have the proper equipment, have the spring removed by a garage.

The clunking is most likely a bad CV joint, inspect the CV boots for rips/tears in rubber boot, if torn/ripped the axle will have to be replaced.
