1997 Grand Prix 6 cylinder 3.8 Supercharged WIPER PROBLEMS

Hi All, My Car (97 Grand Prix Supercharger) has been without windshield wipers forever and I need to fix them asap. I have been told it is the Linkage since the motor works. The motor comes on and lifts the blades about an inch then I get nothing. Is the linkage the only possibility? Is is easy enough to do myself and how much could it run me?

It could be a linkage issue but I would check the inside of the mounting surface on the wiper arm. It should have a spline to it. It isnt uncommon for it to strip. You may just need new wiper arms
