1996 Pontiac Grand Prix water pump

I have a 1996 pontiac grand prix, I need the water pump replace. I have gotten estimates around 300.00. I was told that they have to jack up the engine to do this. Is this correct or are they yanking me around. What would be the approximate price for this? Also how much will I have to pay to get a water pump.

A bit to much check with a different shop get another estimate

$175 to $225 is good
