This car is having the following problems: Car randomly turns off while traveling and may or may not start back up, the speedometer is acting strange (ie. may show 100 mph when actually going 25), headlights flicker while traveling. The alternator was just replaced with a reconditioned unit, but didn't seem to correct the problem. Could it possibly be the battery? It's my daughters first car and I don't want her to get stranded somewhere!

Thank you!

Hi:
Actually it seems more like a ground problem. Make sure that the terminals are clean and tight. Also, check the ground on the engine block and any body grounds you can find.

Let me know what you find.
