Transmission problem
1992 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a problem with my Pontiac Grand Prix 1992 6 cyl front wheel. Please help me.

When I start the car, everything works fine. After 10 minutes, after it gets warm and when I step on the gas, the transmission dies almost completely. It can move at maximum of 10 miles/hr, even if I change to a different gear. If I turn it off and cool it down, then it will work fine. The same problem will appear after it warms.

I have replaced the transmission filter, and the problem persists.

Disconnect the TCC (torque convertor clutch) lockup connector. It is usually a square 4 prong connector on side of trans. Usually white, pink or blue in color.

If problem goes away the TCC solenoid is bad.

If problem persists, then the trans. Will have to be diagnosed by a reputable trans shop.
