First of all the car had radiator leak so replaced it along with waterpump & thermostat. Car sat all winter & when we went to drive again the fuel was rusty color & fuel filter kept getting clogged so dropped tank to empty completely & replaced filter. A mechanic friend thinks it may be EGR valve?

These engines are notorious for intake manifold gasket leaks and will suck coolant into the combustion chamber and both consume coolant and cause misfires.

Yeah I know about intake gaskets on my 96 grandam but it did overheat & antifreeze was mixing n2 oil but this car hasnt ever ran hot the oil looks good & no coolant loss. How would we know if its the intake gaskets 4sure? Other than white smoke which is only when 1st started & coolant loss which we r not noticing any?

Your going to have to use a scan tool to diagnose it. You need to look at all the sensor data when the problem occurs so you can see what's out of spec at the time.
