Have you checked the wiring to the sensors for damage?

Have codes erased at most autoparts stores.

Code says that O2 sensor is out of range, does not necessarily mean that the sensor is bad, could be a fuel injector, clogged CAT, fuel pressure, vacuum leak, etc.

my service engine soon light is on and blinking, the cars idle is off and when you come to a stop or slow down the car will shut off. When it is running it sounds like a lawn mower.

First thing you need to do is have the codes read, Autozone does it free, Post the results with the code number(s). Even if the service engine light is not on, there should be freeze frame data stored.
If it won't make it to Autozone, buy a cheap scanner, they can be had for 30-40 dollars, a good investment, since they cover all cars sold in the USA from 96 on.
If the light is blinking, it means engine misfires possible damage to the Catalytic converter. Service it right away!

Yes the light started blinking on way home the other day and thats when it started running like crap, we did already hook up the scanner it said cylinder 3 was misfiring or only running on 3 cylinders. A few months back I took my car to a repair shop becau se it was loud and I thought there was a hole in the catylic converter but I guess it turned out to be be a hole in the resignator so they didnt have one so they ran a straight pipe in place of the resignator, would this be my problem? The repair shop I took my car to get repaired this time put a used motor in my car about 5 mo ago this was after the resignator and they are saying it is a coil thats bad? But they seem kind of shady.

Well you do have a misfire, so the code was P0303, For cylinder #3, Check coil, wires and plugs. Also could be a bad fuel injector.

The fuel tank pressure sensor is used in order to detect a vacuum decay or an excessive vacuum during the EVAP diagnostic routine. The sensor responds to the changes in the fuel tank pressure or vacuum. The signal voltage to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) varies from a minimum of about 0.2 volts with pressure in the fuel tank to more than 4.0 volts with a high vacuum in the fuel tank.
Here is the description, post back with any other questions.

Hi! I recently had the 90k maintenance service done, but the car is still having some problems. First of all, I don't think the shop it was in ever diagnosed the engine and I don't think they did what they were suposed to do at tune-up. I'll go back and ask them.
But anyway, I have the service engine soon light on and I get about 15mpg. I suspect it's the oxygen sensors and / or injectors. I plan to take it to a dealer and get a full diagnostic on it. How hard is to replace the oxygen sensors and/or injectors. Do I need to go into the ecm and reset it afterwards?
Thanks!

As far as injectors or 02 sensors if there replaced nothing has to be reset, just plug and play. Before you suspect anything have it scaned or diagnosed. Could be something simple and inexpensive. Post back with any other questions.

my car keeps stalling out while I'm driving. It runs great unless I drive too far or go over 65 mph. It will
start up again after a few minutes. I'm trying to avoid
taking it in for a diagnostic test, since no display lights
come on (check engine soon) etc. Could you recommend anthing to check for. My husband thinks
maybe an ignition system problem.

Thank you!

Hi my name is Jimmy I am having the exact same problem with my grand am 2000. Exactly the same thing happends to mine, I changed my fuel pressure regulator and fuel filter thinking it may be the problem but still happening. I am wondering if my fuel pump may be going bad and cutting off after I run the car for a few miles or go too fast but I am not really thinking its that, and I get no engine light to come on or anything. My car restarts after like 2 min and will go further untill it happens again but always starts back up. I am puzzled on this one.

Jimmy,
Thank you for your comment. I am replacing the ignition module this week, since many people think
it is electrical. I'll let you know if that fixes the problem.

We decided to take the car to a pontiac dealer instead of guessing it's the ignition module. It will
probably cost us an arm and a leg but I'll let you know what they find out.

Thanks Lynne. I really appreciate you letting me know what the probelm is when you find out. I was also thinking it could be the ignition control module like you said but I also for some reason think it could be the fuel pump as well.

Lynne I went to AutoZone and took off my Control module to have it tested inside which they will do free of charge, you have to remove the part yourself and take it in. The module passed the test and is good. I am not sure if it may be my fuel pump which I suspect but I don't wish to spend that much money on one and go through all the labor of putting it on if it is not the actual problem. I will let you know something soon if I find out anything else.

Jimmy,
the dealer is installing a fuel kit- fuel pump, sensor etc. The mechanic drove it the other day and it stalled out and wouldn't start up again. We pick it up
tonight, 750.00. I'll let you know it that fixed the problem.

Are you feeling misfire? What has the maintenance been like? It could be as simple as a faulty spark plug or wire, could be a fuel injector, or even an internal engine concern. The first step would be to isolate it to a specific cylinder, and proceed with diagnosis from there. If it has been a while since tune parts have been replaced, that may be a good idea for a start.
