Hi, I recently had new intake gaskets and head gaskets installed in my grand am. The first time I go to start it from installation the temp rose up to 220 and stayed there no hotter or colder. Also my heat does not work anymore. Could you help me determine if something did not get done correctly.

If it's a 3.1 or 3.4, those have to have the coolant system bled. And it's probably has an air pocket trapped in it somewhere.

It is a 3.4. A mechanic said that if you start let it run for a while then shut it off and let it cool down and start it again the bubble should rise up and come out.

I have found that I have to drive them on the highway for about 10 minutes to get them to completely "burp".

Take 2 gallons of 50/50 mix with you so you can refill it when it does its thing.

I would but the temperature will go to about 210 to 215 and stays there. I got a brand new thermostat. It still does it.
