Engine Mechanical problem
1994 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Automatic 153000 miles

Hello. Grand Am sat outside with 1/2 tank of gas for a few weeks.
Initially started up without incident. Filled up the tank and drove 60 miles. After reaching destination, shutting off car, car wouldn't start. Noticed oil was very low so put in oil. Eventually started and drove car back 60 miles.

Couple days later - car wouldn't start. Sparked but didn't completely turn over. Eventually put fuel injector cleaner and gas cleaner in gas tank and the car started a few times - including today - but now will not start again.

Today, while idling, noticed the car's temperature gauge shot up to halfway mark so engine is obviously running hot. However, don't know if it's low water level, fuel pump, injector or even starter problem.

I'm not anywhere near a car expert so hope you can provide some general insight into what may be going on.

Thank you!

Half way up th egauge isnt usually hot, its normal temp, may have a sticky thermostat though from sitting. The no start, need to check for fuel pressure when it wont start, there is a schrader valve on the fuel rail for this. At that mileage a fuel pump wouldnt too far out of the possibilities.
